Nearby is an Open Source peer to peer general message passing framework which forms an overlay network on top of the local subnet. Nearby automatically associates with other peers through the use of Zeroconf and creates a complete graph (every peer is connected to every other peer). Nearby is flexible since all functionality is implemented through language independent plugins which are automatically distributed across the network as necessary.

What can I use it for?

Team Meetings - When your team sits down to work and they want to be able to pass messages back and forth without having to trade IM screen names just use Nearby instead.
